For more than 15 years, I've worked with experts to make their knowledge matter and to turn insight into impact.

For a long time, the traditional tools of public communication held up: formal reports, press releases, op-eds, briefings.

But that system is collapsing. Institutional trust is eroding, and the ways people find, share, and believe information have fundamentally changed.

Today, influence is built through networks, connection, and credibility, not hierarchy or title. Resonance, emotion, and authenticity are now the currency of trust.

According to Pew Research Center, only 38% of Americans check news regularly, down from 51% in 2016. That's a seismic shift and it changes how we must communicate if we want our work to reach and move people.

To my fellow communicators: how are you adapting? What are you experimenting with to meet this moment?

Major thanks to Renee DiResta and Rachel Kleinfeld for their illuminating new paper on communications strategy from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

I just launched my website and newsletter.

I'm proud of this gorgeous site, but I’m even more proud of how it captures my expertise, who I am, and why I care so much about this work.

I'd love for you to take a look.
